The scars carried by children who have suffered some form of abuse are often hidden, but can last a lifetime.

David Beckham sheds light on those tucked-away truths that impact far too many children worldwide. The heavily tatted soccer star uses his body art — which comes to life — to tell the stories of abused kids for the public service announcement from UNICEF aimed at ending violence against children.

From schoolyard bullying and physical abuse to sexual assault and kidnapping, the powerful 60-second spot is all the time needed to expose the pain these children endure.

In the United States alone, more than 58,000 children were sexually abused in 2014, according to the American Society for the Positive Care of Children.

"Violence against children marks them forever," Beckham says in the video, tying the idea to his tattoos. "It's wrong. End it."
